It is a unique occasion to take a stand against a problem that affects us all. On June 26, FORUT-SL, in collaboration with 5 Children and Young People’s (CYPs) Clubs, was able commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and send out a strong message against illicit drug use. During the commemoration, we raised awareness of two important world issues – World Drug Day and the Blue Heart Campaign against Human Trafficking.
The event was held to remind us of the effects of drugs in our schools, local communities and how we can stop them. We continue to encourage everyone to participate in the campaign to join us in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse.
From the dangerous effects of cannabis to the prevention of HIV/AIDS and needle sharing, at lot of efforts have been invested and lots of information are available to get educated, but we are not complacent, we know there is more to do.
There are lots of ways to show your support. At FORUT-SL we have been working with school by establishing 49 Children and Youth clubs around the country. Sensitizing, and providing technical prevention mechanism of how to deal with the harmful effects of alcohol and drug abuse. We also provide educational materials to raise awareness about alcohol and drugs abuse and its effects on our communities and society as a whole.
But we have not been doing all this in isolation, with your support; we can continue to save more life. Please donate what little you can for our brothers and sisters who need help in their own personal journey against alcohol and drugs
